Lundell Plastics of Odebolt, Iowa Expands to Accommodate High Demand

For over 25 years, Lundell Plastics has been creating ideas to make work easier. Their flagship product is Poly Cupped Flighting, a helical device used to move material gently from Point A to Point B. Before Lundell Plastics came along, flighting, which is widely used as the central component of farm augers, was made of steel. Lundell's poly twist on flighting soon became the standard in farming and beyond because it's highly durable, doesn't corrode, and treats materials more gently. Today, the flighting and other Lundell products are used in a wide variety of applications both agricultural and commercial, including the food and biofuel industries. The company is now expanding to keep up with this demand.
The most recent expansion of Lundell Plastics is their manufacturing facility and headquarters in Odebolt, Iowa (Pop. 1,153). The nearly complete 13,000 square foot addition was added to make room for more production and inventory of Poly Cupped Flighting and other plastic products. Brian Lundell, of production, said the need for the addition was clear. "Poly Cupped Flighting has become the industry standard. It's hard to buy a new seed tender that doesn't come with Poly Cupped Flighting already installed. If it comes with an auger, it most likely has our product in there," said Brian.
Included in the addition are many new areas for increased production and storage. Brian says these changes will allow Lundell products to remain competitively priced while new innovative products can be added to the lineup. Among these new products are the FreeFlo telescoping tube and the QuickHinge, which both enhance planting operations during spring. In the shop, the addition also brings more efficiency and comfort: there's even a new fitness facility being built on-site. "We understand the value of keeping happy and healthy employees and how that can enhance the customer experience. We always put our employees number one, which means they'll put our customers number one," added Brian.
